Supplemental Harassment Prevention Training — Arizona State & Local Government
This course provides sexual harassment and workplace harassment prevention training for Arizona state and local government employers and their workforce. Built around the requirements that govern Arizona's public sector — the Arizona Civil Rights Act (ACRA), State Personnel System Rules, and federal law — it delivers the training Arizona government employees are required to complete, presented by instructors who know both the law and the public-sector environment.
The State of Arizona requires its employees within the State Personnel System to complete harassment prevention training, with additional, more rigorous training for supervisors and managers. Many Arizona local governments — cities, counties, and special districts — maintain their own training requirements as well. This course meets those needs with content built specifically for the public sector, not repurposed from generic private-sector material.
You'll cover what sexual harassment and unlawful workplace harassment are under the Arizona Civil Rights Act and federal law, examples of prohibited conduct, the complaint and reporting process, employees' rights and protections, and the prohibition against retaliation. Supervisors and managers receive an additional segment covering the specific duties the law places on those in charge: how to recognize harassment, how to receive and respond to a complaint, the obligation to take prompt and appropriate corrective action, how to avoid and prevent retaliation, and the personal and organizational liability that can result when a supervisor fails to act.
This course is taught by a Certified Mediator with a law degree and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) mediation experience, delivering the content in a clear, respectful, and genuinely useful way, allowing all participants to feel welcome and comfortable. As an Arizona-based provider, Phoenix Canyon can deliver this training in person, on-site, anywhere in the state.
Compliance Requirements
Arizona's public sector carries specific training expectations. Here's what your organization needs:
State of Arizona agencies (State Personnel System): State employees are required to complete harassment prevention training, with additional training required for supervisors and managers covering their specific duties to prevent, recognize, and correct harassment. This course meets that requirement.
Arizona local governments: Cities, counties, and special districts that maintain their own harassment-training requirements can use this course to satisfy them. (Not sure of your obligations? Reach out — we'll help you sort it out.)
Best for: Arizona state agencies, cities, counties, special districts, and other public-sector employers — and their employees, supervisors, and managers — meeting harassment prevention training requirements under the Arizona Civil Rights Act, State Personnel System Rules, and applicable local policies.
Format: Two-hour group training for employees; a three-hour session for supervisors and managers (the employee content plus an additional hour on supervisor duties and liability). Interactive, in person or virtual.
