Contracting from the project manager's driver's seat. Where FPM 132 gives you a working understanding of how federal contracting operates, FPM 232 puts you in charge of it — the applied, mid-level course on leading the acquisition process for your project. You'll work through the mission and purpose of federal contracting, the FAR System (including the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul), and the acquisition lifecycle — then move into the parts a mid-level PM actually drives: the leadership and management of acquisition planning, planning for source selection, evaluating proposals, bids, and offers, and planning contract administration so you can monitor contractor performance and hold them to the standard. You won't just know how contracting works — you'll be able to lead it, spotting where a project is exposed and steering the acquisition so it delivers what the mission needs. You'll understand why each decision in the process matters, and how to make the calls that keep a contract — and a project — on track.

A note on certification paths: This course is one of the four FPM 231–234 courses that together meet FAC-P/PM Mid-Level training. Mid-level certification also calls for relevant project/program management experience. Because requirements vary by agency, check with your Acquisition Career Manager (ACM) to confirm what your agency requires before you build your certification plan.

Whether you take it for certification or not — this is a great way to earn CLPs while building genuinely valuable, immediately usable project management skills. Solid knowledge, real CLP credit, and practical tools and information to make you better at your job.

Format: 3 days / 24 CLPs. Classroom or virtual.
