Sexual Harassment Prevention Training — Illinois

Illinois requires every employer in the state — regardless of size — to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees, every year. This course was built to fulfill that requirement, delivering training that meets the standards of the Illinois Workplace Transparency Act (Public Act 101-0221) and Section 2-109(B) of the Illinois Human Rights Act (IHRA).

You'll cover what sexual harassment is under Illinois and federal law, examples of the conduct the law prohibits, the reporting and complaint procedures every workplace needs, and the consequences of harassment and retaliation. Employees come away understanding their rights, and supervisors come away understanding the heightened responsibilities the law places on them.

This course is taught by an instructor who is a Certified Mediator with a law degree, delivering the content Illinois mandates in a clear, respectful, and genuinely useful way, allowing all participants to feel welcome and comfortable.

Compliance Requirements

Illinois training requirements vary by location and business type. Here's what your organization needs:

  • Illinois employers (outside Chicago): This course satisfies the statewide annual training requirement under the Workplace Transparency Act and the Illinois Human Rights Act.

  • Illinois restaurants and bars: Take this course, plus our Illinois Restaurant & Bar Supplemental (required statewide for restaurants and bars under Section 2-110 of the Illinois Human Rights Act).

  • Chicago employers: The City of Chicago has additional requirements, including bystander intervention training. Take our Sexual Harassment & Bystander Intervention Training — Chicago instead of this course — it covers both the Chicago and Illinois requirements in one place.

Best for: Illinois employers and their employees and supervisors who need to meet the mandatory annual sexual harassment prevention training requirement under the Workplace Transparency Act and the Illinois Human Rights Act (which applies to every employer with one or more employees working in Illinois).

Format: One-hour interactive group training, provided annually. In person or virtual.
