Sexual Harassment Prevention Training — Maine

sold out

This course provides Maine's required sexual harassment prevention training for employers with 15 or more employees. Maine was the first state in the nation to mandate this training, and its requirements remain among the most detailed in the country — this course is built to meet them under Title 26 M.R.S.A. § 807.

You'll cover what sexual harassment is under the Maine Human Rights Act and federal law, examples of the conduct the law prohibits, the internal complaint process, the legal recourse available through the Maine Human Rights Commission (MHRC) and the EEOC, and the protections against retaliation Maine law provides. Supervisors and managers receive additional training on their specific responsibilities — including how to recognize, respond to, and take immediate corrective action on harassment complaints.

This course is taught by a Certified Mediator with a law degree and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) mediation experience, ensuring that the content Maine mandates is delivered in a clear, respectful, and genuinely useful way, allowing all participants to feel welcome and comfortable.

Compliance Requirements

Maine sets specific training obligations for covered employers. Here's what your organization needs:

  • Maine employers with 15 or more employees: Must train all employees within one year of hire, and supervisors within one year of taking a supervisory role. This course satisfies that requirement under Title 26 M.R.S.A. § 807.

  • Recordkeeping: Maine employers must keep records of who completed training and when. (Ask us how we can help.)

Note: Maine does not currently require recurring training. However, the Maine Human Rights Commission and compliance experts recommend periodic refreshers — and many employers retrain every one to three years to stay current and reinforce learning outcomes.

Best for: Maine employers with 15 or more employees, and their employees, supervisors, and managers — meeting the sexual harassment prevention training requirement under Title 26 M.R.S.A. § 807.

Format: Two-hour interactive group training, with additional content for supervisors and managers. In person or virtual.
