This course provides the workplace harassment prevention education Puerto Rico requires of all employers. Built to comply with Puerto Rico's Act 90-2020 — which obligates every employer to adopt a policy, post a notice, and educate employees on the prohibition against workplace harassment — it also addresses the sexual harassment protections and protocol requirements under Act 17-1988, as amended by Act 82-2022.

Puerto Rico's law is broader than many: it prohibits not only sexual harassment, but workplace harassment and bullying of any kind — repeated, abusive, or humiliating conduct that falls outside an employer's legitimate interests. You'll cover what workplace harassment and sexual harassment are under Puerto Rico law, examples of prohibited conduct, the employer's policy and protocol, the complaint and investigation process, employees' rights and available resources, and the prohibition against retaliation. Supervisors and managers receive additional guidance on their responsibilities to prevent, address, and investigate harassment.

This course was designed by a Certified Mediator with a law degree and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) mediation experience, and is delivered by a qualified instructor in English or Spanish — ensuring the content Puerto Rico requires is presented in a clear, respectful, and genuinely useful way, allowing all participants to feel welcome and comfortable.

Compliance Requirements

Puerto Rico requires both education and written protocols. Here's what your organization needs:

  • All Puerto Rico employers: Must adopt a workplace harassment policy, post a notice, and provide employees with education on the prohibition against harassment under Act 90-2020. This course delivers that required education.

  • Sexual harassment protocol (Act 82-2022): Employers must also adopt and implement a written protocol to manage and investigate sexual harassment allegations. (Ask us how we can help with your policy and protocol.)

Best for: Puerto Rico employers and their employees, supervisors, and managers — meeting the workplace harassment education requirements under Act 90-2020 and supporting compliance with the sexual harassment protocol requirements under Act 17-1988, as amended by Act 82-2022.

Format: One-hour interactive group training, available in English or Spanish. In person or virtual.
